Imbabazi z’ Umukiza

Zamuzanye kunshungura;

Natabitswe n’ ibyaha byanjye,

Ankuramw arankiza

Nari mw isayo y’ ibyaha,

Aramfat’ aransayura

Nari mu mwijim’ ukomeye

Non’ aramurikira,

(The mercy of the Savior)

(Brought Him to seek me out;)

(I was burdened by my sins,)

(He lifted me out and saved me)

(I was in the pit of sin,)

(He took me and cleansed me)

(I was in deep darkness)

(Now He gives me light,)

Natinze cyane kwitaba

Yesu wampamagaraga;

Nyuma, niringiy’ ijambo rye,

Yes’ ankurahw ibyaha

(I delayed long to answer)

(Jesus who was calling me;)

(Later, I trusted His word,)

(Jesus removed my sins)

Yaje kunkiz’ agifite

Inkovu nyinshi z’ amahwa

N’ iz’ icumu n’ iz’ imbereri

Mpimbaz’ urukundo rwe

(He came to save me still bearing)

(Many scars from thorns)

(I praise His love)

Umutima ni muzima;

Arikw icyatumy’ anshungura,

Akankiza, sinkizi

(Now I dwell in peace;)
