Mu bintu byose, ngeze ku gupfa
Jye nd’ Umukristo: mpora mbihamya,
Nahw igihugu cyose
cyanseka
Jye nd’ Umukristo wo mu mutima,
Kuk’ ubu nsigaye nkunda Kristo
Icyatumy’ apfa, yazize jyewe !
Nabuzwa n’ iki kujya mukunda ?
(I am a Christian: I will always be one)
(In all things, even unto death)
(I am a Christian: I always declare it,)
(Even if the whole country)
(mocks me)
(I am a Christian from the heart,)
(Because now I have come to love Christ)
(The reason He died, He died for me!)

Ni tuba hamwe, nzahora nesha

Ndakomeje mu rugendo rwanjye
Iby’ ino mw isi ndabihinyuye:
Nsigaye nifuz’ ibyo mw ijuru
Jye nd’ Umukristo: gakondo yacu
Iri mw ijuru ku Mana yacu
Nta nzar’ ibayo, nta n’ imiruho;
Abaho bose baguwe neza
(I am a Christian: I am a pilgrim;)
(I continue on my journey)
(The things of this world I have rejected:)
(I now desire only the things of heaven)
(I am a Christian: our homeland)
(Is in heaven with our God)
(There is no hunger there, no toil;)
(All who dwell there are blessed)

Gihumuriz’ umutima wanjye
Kinyibagiza n’ ibyago byose,
Nkumva nduhuwe n’ Umwami Yesu
Jye nd’ Umukristo, uko ndi kose
Maze, ni ntumirwa, ngiye gupfa,
Nzagir’ ibyishimo bitavugwa;
Nzabon’ ihirwe, ngiye mw ijuru
(I am a Christian: that is something)
(That comforts my heart)
(It makes me forget all troubles,)
(I feel rested with the Lord Jesus)
(I am a Christian, whatever I am)
(So when I am called, when I go to die,)
(I will have unspeakable joy;)
(I will find blessing, going to heaven)
