Yandikishij’ iby’ urukundo rwe;

Mu byiz’ Imana yavuze byose,

Nta kirut’ iki, ko Yesu ankunda

Nishimiye ko Yes’ ankunda:

Arankunda ! Arankunda !

Nishimiye ko Yes’ ankunda,

Nubwo ntakwiriye

(I rejoice that the Father of all)

(Has written down His love for me;)

(Of all the good things God has spoken,)

(Nothing surpasses this, that Jesus loves me)

(I rejoice that Jesus loves me:)

(He loves me! He loves me!)

(I rejoice that Jesus loves me,)

(Though I don't deserve it)

Kand’ iyo nyobye, nkamushavuza,

Ntareka kunkunda ntakwiriye;

Kand’ ikinsubiz’ aho Yes’ ari

Cyane n’ ukwibuk’ urukundo rwe

(And when I sin, when I grieve Him,)

(He doesn't stop loving unworthy me;)

(And what comforts me where Jesus is)

(Is simply remembering His great love)

Ni ndeb’ ubwiza bwe bwo mw ijuru,

Nzajya ndirimb’ ik’ iteka ryose ?

Nzajya mmubaza ndirimba ntya, nti

Yesu, n’iki cyakunkundishije ?

(When I behold His glory in heaven,)

(Will I sing this forever?)

(Will I ask Him singing thus, saying)

(Jesus, what made You love me so?)

Kand’ urukundo ni rwo rwazanye

Yesu kunshunguz’ urupfu rubi

Kokw arankunda, ndabizi neza:

Nanjye ndamukunda, ndamushima

(And His love is what brought)

(Jesus to save me from terrible death)

(For He loves me, I know it well:)

(I also love Him, I praise Him)
