Ndabaririmbira—Iby’Uwamfiriye,(I will sing of Him—Who died for me,)

Wankunze mfit’ ibyaha, narararutse !(Who loved me though sinful, I was lost!)

Wambonyemw iki, Krisito,(What did You see in me, O Christ,)

Ukaza mw is’ukamfira ?(That You came to earth to die for me?)

2.

Yasiz’ ingoma ye, —Nukw aramanuka;(He left His throne,—And He came down;)

Baramusuzugura, ntibamwemera(They despised Him, they rejected Him)

Har’ indi nshuti nka We se(Is there another friend like Him)

Yakund’ abayihinyuye ?(Who loved those who betrayed Him?)

Baramushingije, —Bashash’ imyambaro(They crowned Him,—They stripped His garments)

Ngo, Hozana; hahirw’ Umwami Krisito!(Saying, Hosanna; blessed is King Christ!)

Bukeye, barahinduka,(In the morning, they changed their minds,)

Bati: Nabambge ! Nabambge !(Saying: Crucify Him! Crucify Him!)

Bafash’ Umwam’ ubgo, —Baramuhemura;(They took the King Himself,—They mocked Him;)

Bakiz’umwambuzi, babamba Krisito(They freed a murderer, crucified Christ)

Iby’ arabyihanganira,(All that He endured,)

Ngw abon’ ukw aducungura(That we might see how He saves us)

Yavuye mw ijuru, —Aza mur’ iyi si,(He came down from heaven,—Came to this earth,)

Abur’ aho yarambik’ umusaya we;(Having nowhere to lay His head;)

Amfira ku Musaraba,(He died on the Cross,)

Ngo nanjy’ angeze mw ijuru(That I too might enter heaven)

Ntabgo nzarambirwa—Kubaririmbira(I will never cease—To sing)

Iby’ urukundo rwe n’ uko yababajwe(Of His love and how He suffered)

Yanyemeye nk’ inshuti ye:(He accepted me as His friend:)

Nzavuga hos’ izina rye!(I will praise His name forever!)
