Nakijijwe n’ ubuntu bge
Nta wundi wandokoye, atari We
(I was once drowning)
(In the sea of death,)
(Bound in chains,)
(Dragged down by sin;)
(Then I cried out to Jesus,)
(I called upon Him;)
(He responded and took hold of me and pulled me out!)
(I was saved by His grace)
(No one else could save me, but He)
Nawe, munt’ urengerwa
Ubur’amas’ ubu !
Reb’ uwo Murokozi:
Aragukuramo !
Imiraba ntibura
Kumvira Nyira yo:
Arashaka kugukiz’ umwemere !
(You too, drowning person)
(At this very moment!)
(Look to that Savior:)
(He is pulling you out!)
(The waves need not)
(Overcome you:)
(He wants to save you if you believe!)
Haz’ibyago noneho,
Cyangw’ imibabaro,
Nzi ko ntazazikama:
Yes’ azankuramo
Azamaramw ubwoba,
Amp’ibinkwiriye
Ni kw azakugirira, n’ umwemera
(Whatever dangers now,)
(Or sorrows,)
(I know I will not sink:)
(Jesus will pull me out)
(He will remove my fear,)
(Give me what I need)
(This He will do for you, if you believe)
