Mu mazi n’ ljambo

Yazanywe mw isi yacu

No kudukiz’ ibyaha,

Ngo tub’ Itorero rye

Yaguz’ amaraso

(Our Lord, Jesus,)

(He is the Beginning)

(Of the church He created)

(In water and the Word)

(He was brought to our earth)

(To save us from sin,)

(That we be His Church)

(He bought with blood)

Itorero ni rimwe

Mu mok’ atar’ amwe;

Umwami waryo n’ umwe

Riramusanganira

Ifunguro ni rimwe

Ritung’ abaryo bose;

Rishim’ izina rimwe

N’ iry’ Umucunguzi

(The church is one)

(Though not all the same;)

(Its Lord is one)

(It gathers together)

(The meal is one)

(Filling all its members;)

(It praises one name)

(That of the Redeemer)

Yewe, kintu cyazanye

Ibice muri ryo,

Bikarisuzuguza

Abataririmo !

Nyamar’ abera baryo

Bahora bari maso,

Babwir’ Umwam’ ibyaryo

Ngw az’ arirengere

(Alas, what has brought)

(Divisions in it,)

(Causing confusion)

(To those outside it!)

(May its members)

(Always be watchful,)

(Telling the Lord about it)

(So He'll protect it)

Mu byago biritera,

Rijya riruhurwa

No guteg’ amahoro

Mu bihe bizaza

Ryifuza kuzabona

Ibyiza byo mw ijuru,

Ni riva ku rugamba,

Rinesheje rwose

(In the dangers that assail it,)

(It goes struggling)

(Waiting for peace)

(In times to come)

(It longs to see)

(The blessings of heaven,)

(Coming from the battle,)

(Having triumphed completely)

Kandi, rikiri mw isi,

Rifitany’ ubumwe

Na Dat’ Imana yacu

N’ abe bo mw Ijuru

Abo, bakiri mw isi,

Bafatanyaga na We

Nanjy’ umpe kuba nka bo,

(With Father God)

(And those in Heaven)
