Iteka mw’ ijuru

Biduter’ umunezero,

Bikatwishimisha

Mw’ isi nd’ umushyitsi:

Sinzayihoramo;

Ahubwo ndi mu rugendo

Runjyana mw ijuru

(To dwell with Jesus)

(Forever in heaven)

(Brings us joy,)

(And makes us glad)

(In this world I'm a stranger:)

(I won't remain here;)

(Rather I'm on a journey)

(That leads me to heaven)

Urugo rw’ Imana

Ajy’ arunyereka,

Ndurora runyegereye,

Arumpishuriye;

Bituma nifuza

Cyane kugerayo:

Ni ho mwandu w’ ab’ Imana,

yerusalenu nshya

(The home of God)

(He keeps showing me,)

(I see it drawing near,)

(He has opened it wide;)

(This makes me long)

(So much to reach there:)

(There is the city of God's people,)

(The new Jerusalem)

(Paul declared,)

(Saying: We shall dwell)

(Forever with God;)

(So we read)

(That promise,)

(Which has delivered me,)

(That we may live even in this world,)

(With You always protecting me)
