Ubgo nzabon’ Umukiza

Ntumbira mu maso he,

Nzanyurwa mmwitegereje,

Ari We wamfiriye

Nzamubona, Yes’ Umwami,

Turi kumwe mw ijuru:

Nzamwirebera mu maso,

Njye mmusingiz’ iteka!

(When I see the Savior)

(Gazing into His face,)

(I will be thrilled as I behold Him,)

(He who died for me)

(I will see Him, Jesus the Lord,)

(Together in heaven:)

(I will look Him in the face,)

(And I will praise Him forever!)

Nkiri mw isi mu mubiri,

Mbur’ uko mwirebera

Urya muns’ urenda kuza,

Mbon’ ubgiza bge bginshi !

(While still on earth in the flesh,)

(Each time I look at Him)

(Coming down from beneath the veil,)

(I see His abundant goodness!)

Amakub’ azab’ ashize,

Nta byaha, nta mwijima:

Ibigande biganduwe,

Tuzishim’ imbere ye !

(The troubles will have passed,)

(No sins, no darkness:)

(Knees bowed down,)

(We will rejoice before Him!)

Ni mwirebera mu maso,

Nzicwa n’ umunezero

Nzamumeny’ Uwo wankunze,

Akaz’ akanshungura

(As I look Him in the face,)

(I will be overcome with joy)

(I will know the One who loved me,)

(Who came and saved me)
