Ku rurembo rwa Dawid’ Umwami,

Kera harih’ uruhongore;

Umwan’ ahabikirwa na nyina

Mu muvure w’inka warimo

Uwo mwana ni we Yesu,

Kandi nyina yitwaga Mariya

(In the lineage of King David,)

(Long ago there was a stable;)

(A child was laid there by His mother)

(In the cattle trough within)

(That child is Jesus,)

(And His mother was named Mary)

Yaje mw is’ asig’ iWe mw’ ijuru,

Bamuraza mu ruhongore;

Kand’ uburiri bwar’ umuvure,

Nubwo yar’ Umwami wa bose

Umukiza wacu wera

Yabanye n’ aboroheje nka twe

(He came to earth leaving His home in heaven,)

(They placed Him in a stable;)

(And His bed was a trough,)

(Though He was the Lord of all)

(Our true Savior)

(Dwelt with the humble like us)

Kand’ akir’ umwana, yubahaga

Ababyey ‘akabakorera;

Yabagandukiye muri byose;

Yabakundaga bihebuje,

Natwe, nubwo tur’ abana,

Tumere nka Yes’ uko yar’ ari

(And as a child, He honored)

(His parents and served them;)

(He obeyed them in all things;)

(He loved them wonderfully,)

(We too, though we are children,)

(Should grow like Jesus was)

Yatubereye nk’ uworoheje,

Kand’ ari we Nyir’ imbaraga !

Yarakuraga nk’ abandi bana:

N’ icyitegererezo cyacu

We yababaranye natwe;

Bituma tunezeranwa na We

(He appeared to us as humble,)

(Yet He is the Almighty!)

(He grew up like other children:)

(Our example)

(He suffered with us;)

(This gives us hope in Him)

Uwo Mwana mwiza wo gukundwa

None ni W’ utegeka byose !

Azagaruka, twe tumubone,

Yes’ Umwami n’ Umucunguzi

Kand’ ashorera tw’ abana

Ngw’ atugeze mw ijuru, tubane

(That beloved beautiful Child)

(Now is the One who rules all!)

(He will return, that we may see Him,)

(Jesus the Lord and Redeemer)

(And He will lead us children)

(To take us to heaven, to dwell together)

Azaboneker’ abamukunda,

Atakiri mu ruhongore;

Azab’ ari mw’ ijuru ku ngoma,

I buryo bg’ Iman’ ihoraho:

Tuzamwikubit’ imbere,

Tumusingizany’ iteka ryose

(He will appear to those who love Him,)

(No longer in the stable;)

(He will be in heaven on the throne,)

(At God's right hand eternal:)

(We will kneel before Him,)

(Praising Him forevermore)
