Umukiza wac’ ubwo yavukaga,(When our Savior was born,)

Nta cumbi yabonye, keretse mu nka(He found no room, except in a stable)

Nubwo bamuhej’ i Betelehemu,(Though they rejected Him in Bethlehem,)

Twe kumwim’ icumbi: twe, tumwakire!(Let us make room for Him: let us welcome Him!)

Marayika yaj’ asang’ abungeri;(An angel came to find the shepherds;)

Izo nkuru nziz’ azibabariye,(This good news He told them,)

Bagend’ uwo mwanya kumusingiza(They went at that moment to glorify Him)

Natwe twe gutinda, tumusingize(Let us not delay, let us glorify Him)

Na ba banyabweng’ aho baboneye(And the wise men, where they saw)

Ya nyenyer’ irang’ Umwami Krisito(That star shining on Lord Christ)

Bamusanze vuba, ihayobora,(They found Him quickly, led there,)

Bamutur’ ibyiza bamuzaniye(They gave Him the gifts they brought)

Ko nd’ umwana muto, namutur’ iki ?(Though I am a small child, what shall I give Him?)

Simfit’ izahabu nk’ abanyabwenge,(I have no gold like the wise men,)

Nta n’ intama mfite, nka ba bungeri(I have no sheep, like the shepherds)

Mfite kimwe gusa: muh’ umutima!(I have only one thing: I give my heart!)
