Gushimisha · 4 verses
Umukiza wac’ ubwo yavukaga,
Nta cumbi yabonye, keretse mu nka
Nubwo bamuhej’ i Betelehemu,
Twe kumwim’ icumbi: twe, tumwakire!
(When our Savior was born,)
(He found no room, except in a stable)
(Though they rejected Him in Bethlehem,)
(Let us make room for Him: let us welcome Him!)
Marayika yaj’ asang’ abungeri;
Izo nkuru nziz’ azibabariye,
Bagend’ uwo mwanya kumusingiza
Natwe twe gutinda, tumusingize
(An angel came to find the shepherds;)
(This good news He told them,)
(They went at that moment to glorify Him)
(Let us not delay, let us glorify Him)
Na ba banyabweng’ aho baboneye
Ya nyenyer’ irang’ Umwami Krisito
Bamusanze vuba, ihayobora,
Bamutur’ ibyiza bamuzaniye
(And the wise men, where they saw)
(That star shining on Lord Christ)
(They found Him quickly, led there,)
(They gave Him the gifts they brought)
Ko nd’ umwana muto, namutur’ iki ?
Simfit’ izahabu nk’ abanyabwenge,
Nta n’ intama mfite, nka ba bungeri
Mfite kimwe gusa: muh’ umutima!
(Though I am a small child, what shall I give Him?)
(I have no gold like the wise men,)
(I have no sheep, like the shepherds)
(I have only one thing: I give my heart!)
