Kera har’ abungeri mu gihugu cyera,(Long ago there were shepherds in a holy land,)
Bumv’ inkuru y’ ibyiza ko Yes’ avutse(They heard the good news that Jesus was born)
ku musozi n’ ijoro, bumv’ amajwi menshi(On the hillside at night, they heard many voices)
Y’ ingabo zo mw ijuru, zishima, ziti:(Of the armies from heaven, rejoicing, saying:)
Noel! Noel! Noel ! Noel!(Noel! Noel! Noel! Noel!)
Havuts’ Umwami w’ lsirayeli !(The King of Israel is born!)
Mu gihugu cya kure, har’ abanyabwenge(In a country far away, there were wise men)
Bahishurirw’ ikintu cyabatangaje(Who were shown something amazing)
Babony’ ikimenyetso cy’ inyenyeri nini,(They saw the sign of a great star,)
Kibarangir’ aho Yesu yavukiye(Showing them where Jesus was born)
Nukw Iman’ iberetse k’ Umukiza yaje,(And so God kept His word that a Savior came,)
Bajy’ ahw ar’ uwo mwanya ngo bamusenge(They went to where He was at that time to worship Him)
Baramupfukamira, bamutur’ ibyiza:(They bowed down to Him, they gave Him gifts:)
By’ izahabu n’ icyome n’ ishangi na yo(Of gold and incense and myrrh as well)
Natwe tumusang’ ubu; n’ Umukiza wacu;(Now we also find Him; He is our Savior;)
Yaj’ aciye bugufi kubwac’ ababi(He came living humbly for our sake as sinners)
Nyuma, ku Musaraba, yaradupfiriye,(Later, on the Cross, He died for us,)
Aduhongerera ngo tutarimbuka(Interceding that we should not perish)
Nuko, umushimire ko yatuvukiye,(So, let us praise Him for being born for us,)
Tumutur’ imitima yac’ imenetse(Let us give Him our sincere hearts)
Uyu munsi wa none, yonger’ avukire(This very day, may He be born again)
Mu mitima ya benshi, bamushimishe(In the hearts of many, may they rejoice in Him)
