Yes’ Umucunguzi—Yashyizwe mu mva;

Yategerezaga—Igihe cye

Ku wa gatatu arazuka,

Az’ atsinz’ urupfu n’ Umubi:

Ava mu mwijima yabinesheje

Yimanye mw ijuru n’ abacunguwe

Yarazutse ! Yarazutse !

Tumushime ! Ariho !

(Jesus the Redeemer—Was laid in the tomb;)

(He was waiting—For His time)

(On the third day He arose,)

(He came conquering death and the Evil One:)

(He came from the darkness He had conquered)

(He manifested Himself in heaven with the redeemed)

(He has risen! He has risen!)

(Let us praise Him! It is true!)

Barindiy’ ubusa—Umwami wacu;

Bakingiy’ ubusa—Cya gituro

(They guarded in vain—Our Lord;)

(They sealed in vain—That tomb)

Ingoyi z’ urupfu—Yaraziciye,

Ntizamuheranye: —Yavuyemo !

(The chains of death—He broke them,)

(They could not hold Him: —He came out!)
