Iyo mpan’ ihebuje(That precious gift)

N’ urukundo rwa Yesu(Is the love of Jesus)

Kand’ umunt’ uyibuze,(And one who lacks it,)

Nta cy’ ab’ amaze(Has achieved nothing)

Urukundo ni rwiza;(Love is good;)

Rujya rugira neza;(It goes about doing good;)

Nta n’ ishyari rugira;(It has no envy;)

Ntirwirarira(It does not boast)

Rwanga n’ iby’ isoni nke;(It hates shameful things;)

Ntirwishakir’ ibyarwo;(It does not seek its own;)

Rwemera gufashanya;(It accepts to help;)

Ntirurakara(It does not get angry)

Kand’ ibyaha by’ abandi,(And the sins of others,)

Ntabgo rubyishimira(It does not rejoice in them)

Kuko runezererwa(For it is gladdened)

Ibitunganye(By what is right)

Rwihanganira byose;(It endures all things;)

Rwizigira n’ abandi;(It trusts in others;)
