Kumv’ amategeko yawe;

Ushyire mu mitima

Ijambo ryawe riryoha

Ibyo mw’ isi tubireke,

Dutekerez’ iby’ ijuru

(Lord Jesus, we have come)

(To hear Your commandments;)

(Place in our hearts)

(Your Word which is pure)

(Things of this world we leave aside,)

(We think of things of heaven)

Nta cyo twebwe twamenya,

Iyi mitim’ icyijimye,

Itakiwe n’ umucyo

Uva mu Mwuka w’ Imana

Utwigishe kuyoboka,

Ngo tujye dukora neza

(Nothing do we ourselves know,)

(These hearts are dark,)

(They need the light)

(That comes from the Spirit of God)

(Teach us to obey,)

(That we may go doing good)
