Yesu nguriy’ ahw ahagaze;

Dor’ ukw aboshywe n’ abanzi be

Umva Pilat’ arabaz’ ati:

Yesu mugirire nte ?

Uramugenza s’ ute ?

Hitamo nonaha !

Naw’ utazibaz’ ubundi,

Ut’ Arangenz’ ate ?

(Jesus is right there standing;)

(Behold how He is bound by His enemies)

(Hear Pilate asking them:)

(What shall you do with Jesus?)

(How will you judge Him?)

(Choose now!)

(If you don't ask them again,)

(How will He be judged?)

Ibyo na non’ ubihitemo !

Wabyemera, wamuhinyura,

Cyangwa wamwimika wishimye

Uramugirir’ ute ?

(That is what you must choose now!)

(Will you accept Him, will you despise Him,)

(Or will you crown Him with joy)

(What will you do with Him?)

Ubo Pilato yashakaga

Kwirengagiza guhitamo,

Byaramunaniye: naw’ ibyo

Ntibyagushobokera

(When Pilate wanted)

(To avoid making a choice,)

(He was troubled: even that)

(Is impossible for you)

Petero yaramwihakanye;

Ni ko guhitamo nabi pe !

Wowe s’ ahubwo ntiwakunda

Gupfa bamuguhora ?

(Peter denied Him;)

(That's a wrong choice indeed!)

(Would you not rather love)

(To die with Him than betray Him?)

5.

Yes’ umusubize nez’ uti:

Nd’ uwawe, Mwami, ndakwihaye;

Umpe kujy’ aho wanyobora,

Nishimiy’ iby’ ukunda !

(Answer Jesus kindly saying:)

(I am Yours, Lord, I have given myself;)

(Give me to go where You lead me,)

(I delight in what You love!)
