Uwakijijwe nawe;

Nake kubgawe wenyine

Kuk’ ur’ umucyo wanjye;

Mu kwitonda kwanjye numve

Urukundo rw’ ukuri,

No mu mwijima w’ ijoro,

Nkwibuke, Mwami Yesu

(My Lord, I want to be)

(One who is saved by You;)

(May I be Yours alone)

(For You are my light;)

(In my vigilance may I hear)

(Your true love,)

(Even in the darkness of night,)

(I remember You, Lord Jesus)

Urumuri kubgawe,

Ngo njye mmurikir’ ab’ isi

Baheze mu mwijima

Nakire mu nzira zabo,

Bakuri kure cyane

Mbageze ku Mwami Yesu,

Ngo na bo bamwizere

(My Lord, I want to be)

(A light for You,)

(So I may shine for the people of earth)

(Who are in darkness)

(When I meet them in their ways,)

(While they are far away)

(I will bring them to Lord Jesus,)

(So they too may believe in Him)

Uvug’ ijambo ryawe,

Namamaze, Databuja,

Yuko watubambiwe:

Abari mu rupfu rubi,

Mbabgir’ ikibakiza,

Mpumuriz’ abababaye;

Nyobore bos’ i Bgami

(My Lord, I want to be)

(One who speaks Your word,)

(And proclaim, O Father,)

(That You were crucified:)

(Those who are in evil death,)

(I tell them of salvation,)

(I comfort those who are suffering;)

(May I lead them all to the Lord)
