Ngwino, ngukize, mwangizi:

Nabony’ ishavu ryawe ryose;

Nyamar’ ushatse ko ngukiiza,

Ukwiriye kunyumvira

Dor’ uko mpagaze ku rugi:

Ndi shobuj’ Umucunguzi

Nkuzaniy’ imigisha myinshi:

Mbese, ntiwankingurira ?

(Come, let Me save you, My enemy:)

(I have seen all your shame;)

(Yet you desire that I help you,)

(You ought to obey Me)

(See how I stand at the door:)

(I am a humble Savior)

(I bring you many blessings:)

(Will you not open for Me?)

Kera, narakuvukiye,

Ngucunguz’ ubugingo bganjye

Mbese, k’ unangiw’ umutima,

Ubuz’ uko wanshyiramo ?

Namaz’ iminsi myinshi cyane

Ku rugi rwawe nkomanga

Mugenzi, ko bugiye kwira,

Mbese, ntiwankingurira ?

(Long ago, I redeemed you,)

(Saving your life)

(But, if you have a stony heart,)

(How can I put Myself in it?)

(I have spent many days)

(Knocking at your door)

(Friend, night is falling,)

(Will you not open for Me?)

Rya joro ridacy’ iteka

Ni ryir’ uzantabaza s’ ute ?

Ntutind’ unyitab’ uyu munsi,

Ngukikire, nkurengere !

Igihe cyawe kirakuze;

Ntuvug’ uti: Nzaz’ ubundi

N’ uza ku rugi rwanjy’ utinze,

Uzakomangir’ ubusa

(That eternal night)

(How will you spend it?)

(Do not wait, receive Me this day,)

(Let Me save you, protect you!)

(Your time has come;)

(Do not say: I will come later)

(If you come to My door late,)

(You will knock in vain)

Nubgo wumv’ utanyitaho,

Jye ndacyakwinginga ngukunze,

Nkurindire kugeza ryari ?

Ngwino, ndakwingiz’ i wanjye;

Dor’ uko mpagaze ku rugi:

Ndi shobuj’ Umucunguzi

Nkuzaniy’ imigisha myinshi:

Mbese, ntiwankingurira ?

(Though you hear and do not care,)

(I still call you lovingly,)

(How long shall I wait for you?)

(Come, I invite you to Mine;)

(See how I stand at the door:)
