Yesu ni we Nshuti yacu;

Ni W’ utwikorerera

Imibabaro n’ ibyaha,

Akatwuzuza na Se

Dore, tubur’ amahoro,

Tuyabuzwa n’ ubusa,

Kuko tudasaba neza

Ibyo dukena byose

(Jesus is our Friend;)

(He is the One who carries for us)

(Our sorrows and sins,)

(And brings us to the Father)

(Behold, we lack peace,)

(We lack it in vain,)

(Because we do not pray well)

(For all things we need)

Ni tugir’ ibyago byinshi,

Tugashukwa n’ Umubi,

Tumuganyir’ amaganya,

Kukw ayadukuraho

Harihw indi nshuti nk’ iyi

Yababarana natwe ?

Yes’ az’ intege nke zacu

Tumwisunge dusaba

(Though we have many dangers,)

(And we are attacked by the Evil One,)

(Let us tell Him our troubles,)

(For He removes them)

(Is there another friend like this)

(Who suffers with us?)

(Jesus bears our weaknesses)

(Let us trust Him and pray)

Ubuhungiro ni Yesu:

Ngwino tumwihishemo

Iy’ inshuti zidutaye,

Zikaduhemukira,

Yes’ adukibgir’ ingabo,

Akaduhumuriza

(If you have much shame)

(And you suffer greatly,)

(The refuge is Jesus:)

(Come, let us hide in Him)

(Those friends who abandon us,)

(And turn away from us,)

(Jesus arms us with strength,)

(And comforts us)
